Are French bulldogs related to Pitbulls?

Though both dogs have a Bulldog bloodline, they are not the same.  Pitbulls are a result of crossbreeding bulldogs and terriers. French bulldogs are a result of breeding bulldogs and native French dogs that were used to hunt rats.
